Kamala Harris
As long as she runs the same campaign as Hillary, I'm happy...

Kamala Harris meets with them in the Hamptons this weekend and highlights her possible intention of taking up Clinton’s role and running for the office in 2020.

At the Bridgehampton event, Harris was seen getting in touch with some of the top donors of the Clinton campaigned, and highlighted that she is perhaps thinking of something much bigger than running for the Senate. As one of the Clinton donor’s state, “She’s running for president. Take it to the bank.” “She’s absolutely going to run,” another indicated.

Ever since Clinton’s defeat, her donors had been looking for a prospect to fill in her shoes and hopefully help put the failing party together. However, whether Harris, a former prosecutor-turned-California attorney general could prove to be the “new and different” that the Democrats need at this time still remains an unanswered.

“There’s a big hunger out there for somebody new and different,” pointed out Bill Carrick, a Democratic consultant who also served as an adviser to former Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.)

“People are looking for champions. … She’s in that category. There are people who might not know her real well but want to like her. What little they know, they like,” added Carrick.

Harris gained significant attention as President Trump’s aggressive critic as she urged the importance of looking into Trump’s connection with Russia and fight with “courage not courtesy.”

However, Harris’s courage when it comes to holding her donors accountable for their wrongdoings remains in question.  The Observer notes that Harris has a history showing her leniency when it comes to investigating her donors. “The nomination of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin provoked criticisms over his tenure as CEO of OneWest Bank. In 2013, California prosecutors claimed to have discovered over 1,000 foreclosure law violations, but the California Attorney General’s office failed to file any action against the bank. At the time, Kamala Harris was California’s attorney general. Many questioned why Harris didn’t take any action given the evidence her office uncovered.”

Harris’s response to this was that “We went and we followed the facts and the evidence, and it’s a decision my office made,” Harris told The Hill. “We pursued it just like any other case. We go and we take a case wherever the facts lead us.” This explanation was not sufficient to backup as to why her office didn’t looking into filing criminal charges against donors of her very own campaign.

It seems every evident that Harris has big plans, as she met with many important figures in Clinton’s inner circle, including “Clinton’s 2008 Campaign National Finance co-Chair Michael Kempner, donors Dennis Mehiel and Steven Gambrel, and Democratic National Committeeman Robert Zimmerman. Harris also attended a separate luncheon hosted by one of Clinton’s top lobbyist bundlers, Liz Robbins,” as indicated by the Observer. This could be a major step by Harris to begin securing donations.

"Look Bibi, this is not joke. If I stay off of twitter for more than an hour, my hands shake."

The Knight First Amendment Institute sent a letter to President Donald Trump, demanding him to unblock dissenting Twitter users, as according to them, this violates the First Amendment.

President Trump’s Twitter account, the @realDonaldTrump has supposedly blocked quite a sum of users that had replied to the president’s tweets with rather mocking, disagreeing and criticizing comments, as indicated by a letter sent to the White House, by the free speech group.

“This Twitter account,” the institute wrote, “operates as a ‘designated public forum’ for First Amendment purposes, and accordingly the viewpoint-based blocking of our clients is unconstitutional.

“We ask that you unblock them and any others who have been blocked for similar reasons,” the letter requested.

The institute, a brand of the much larger Knight Foundation is said to be representing two Twitter users: Holly O’Reilly, @AynRandPaulRyan, and Joseph M. Papp, @joepabike, both of whom were blocked by the president’s Twitter account.

“This Twitter account,” the institute wrote, “operates as a ‘designated public forum’ for First Amendment purposes, and accordingly the viewpoint-based blocking of our clients is unconstitutional.”

“We ask that you unblock them and any others who have been blocked for similar reasons,” the letter requested.

The institute’s senior staff attorney, Alex Abdo argued that Twitter is very much similar to a town hall or a public forum. Katie Fallow, a senior fellow at the institute, backed the argument by highlighting a case called Davison v. Loudoun County.

In that particular case, the plaintiff, Brain Davison had argued that by deleting a post from a Facebook page maintained by a county supervisor in Loudoun County, Virginia, violated his First Amendment rights. The court had sided with Davison and ruled that the Loudon County cannot discriminate against or block people based on views.

Laurence Tribe, a Liberal Harvard Law School professor also claimed that Trump’s Twitter account is “a public forum subject to [First] Amendment anti-blocking principles.”

While, the First Amendment only protects the right to speak, not the right to be heard. When you block someone on Twitter, unlike Facebook, it doesn’t prevent anyone from posting anything, but rather means that the president won’t be able to read the posts.

According to a CBS News report, Deering High School in Portland Maine, has announced that it has made available sports hijabs to young Muslim girls playing sports for the school.

In order to make them feel more comfortable and confident, school officials recently decided to give female Muslim athletes, representing the school, the option to wear a sports hijab while participating in any sports activities.

“We’re more confident on the field,” junior lacrosse player Fadumo Adan said. “This one doesn’t fall off. No matter what I do, it won’t fall off.”

After the school’s athletic director revealed that there was indeed such a product that could help young Muslim girls play their choice of sports without having to compromise on their attire, the female tennis teams two co-captains raised over $800.

An Iraqi immigrant and a senior at the school, Israa Enan, reportedly stayed off the school’s tennis team because her family had issues with the uniform.

“I wished I was one of these girls who wear the hijabs and play with it, but it’s OK,” Israa Enan, a senior at Deering High, said. “I’m too late now.”

However, she noted that she is “happy for the other girls who have the opportunity now to wear the hijab and be more comfortable doing the things they like to do.”

Tabarek Kadhim is another young woman who immigrated to the US from Jordan. Currently a sophomore and a star tennis player, appreciated the gesture and added, “There are some people who actually care, respect and love others, and they are actually accepting of others, which makes me really happy.”

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Kahn was shut-down by Piers Morgan for stating that budget restraints had kept him from monitoring 400 people with suspected terror ties, in London.

“You are the mayor of the capital city where the most recent terrorist attack has taken place. How many of those 400 have come back to London?” co-host Susanna Reid asked.

“The estimate is just over half,” Khan admitted.

“Where are they?!” Morgan yelled. “No, seriously, where are they?”

“How are we letting people back into the U.K., who haven’t just been trained,” Reid asked, “they’ve actually fought, potentially against our troops, how are we letting them back in without knowing exactly where they are and what they’re up to. Because out of all the thousands of people that we’re concerned about, surely those who’ve actually gone to fight are the biggest risk.”

“That’s one of the reasons why it doesn’t make sense for the government to be cutting resources,” Khan responded.

“But where are they, you’re the mayor of this capital city, where are they?” Morgan interjected.

“Well, hold on, I can’t follow 400 people, what I can do…” Khan protested.

“Why can’t you instruct the police?” Piers interrupted, “why can’t you call [Met Police Chief] Cressida Dick right now and say ‘everyone of those people who’s come back from a war zone who’s in London, I want them followed.’”

“Let me say why,” Khan responded. “Because the Met Police budget, roughly speaking, 15% to 20% is funded by me the mayor. The rest comes from central government. If the Met Police budget is being shrunk and reduced, then you got to prioritize and use their resources in a sensible, savvy way.”

“What could be a bigger priority than people coming back from a Syrian battlefield with intent to harm British citizens?” Morgan demanded. “Why is it not the number one priority?”

“Why are these people just allowed to come back in, in the first place, and then the London mayor doesn’t appear to have a clue where any of them are!” he added, “I mean, no disrespect to you, but where are they?”

“Well,” Khan said, “that’s one of the questions that obviously the police…”

“But you’re the mayor!” Morgan implored. “Sadiq, you’re the mayor of London!”

“But this chap here,” Khan explained, “the three men responsible for the attacks on Saturday night hadn’t come from overseas, they were, for all intents and purposes, integrated into our way of life.”

Recently, Britain had attracted a string of terror attack that have put elected official on defense in regards to whether they’re doing enough to protect their citizens.

If Malcolm X were alive today, would he snatch back his glasses and put a dress on this chick?

Assistant professor of African American Studies at Princeton University, Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, on Thursday, criticized Fox News saying that the “mob-like mentality” of its “fringe audience” compelled her to call off her public appearances in the near future over fears of physical attacks.

Following her commencement address at Hampshire College, where she called President Donald Trump a “racist and sexist megalomaniac” – Taylor said that Fox News showed video footage of her speech and as a result was flooded with threats.

In a statement released on Thursday, Taylor said:

“It is with great regret that I have decided to cancel my public lectures scheduled at Seattle’s Town Hall and at the University of California, San Diego this week. I am canceling my appearances for fear of my safety and my family’s safety.

“Since last Friday, I have received more than fifty hate-filled and threatening emails. Some of these emails have contained specific threats of violence, including murder.

“Earlier this month, I delivered the commencement address at Hampshire College’s graduation ceremony. My speech at Hampshire was applauded but Fox News did not like it. Last week, the network ran a story on my speech, describing it as an ‘anti-POTUS tirade.’ Fox ran an online story about my speech and created a separate video of excerpts of my speech, which included my warning to graduates about the world they were graduating into. I argued that Donald Trump, the most powerful politician in the world, is ‘a racist and sexist megalomaniac,’ who poses a threat to their future.

“Shortly after the Fox story and video were published, my work email was inundated with vile and violent statements. I have been repeatedly called ‘n*****,’ ‘b***h,’ ‘c**t,’ ‘d**e,’ ‘she-male,’ and ‘c**n’ — a clear reminder that racial violence is closely aligned with gender and sexual violence. I have been threatened with lynching and having the bullet from a .44 Magnum put in my head.

“I am not a newsworthy person. Fox did not run this story because it was ‘news,’ but to incite and unleash the mob-like mentality of its fringe audience, anticipating that they would respond with a deluge of hate-filled emails — or worse. The threat of violence, whether it is implied or acted on, is intended to intimidate and to silence.

“In some sense, then, they have been successful.

“In the last few weeks, white racists have committed heinous acts of violence. On May 20, a white ‘alt-Right’ sympathizer, Sean Urbanski, murdered an African-American Bowie State University student, Richard Collins III, on the campus of the University of Maryland. Urbanski was a member of a Facebook group called ‘Alt-Reich: Nation.’ And just this past weekend, a white supremacist in Portland, Oregon, murdered two men and attempted to murder another, when all three stepped in to stop an Islamophobic and racist attack on two young women riding public transit.

“President Donald Trump finally decided to release a half-hearted and subdued tweet to oppose the murders in Portland, but with not nearly the same vigor he has used to incite his base against immigrants, while also whipping up anti-Muslim hysteria. The lethargy of the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security in responding to the actual threat of white supremacist, terrorist violence encourages the development of its networks and organizations across the country.

“The cancelation of my speaking events is a concession to the violent intimidation that was, in my opinion, provoked by Fox News. But I am releasing this statement to say that I will not be silent. Their side uses the threat of violence and intimidation because they cannot compete in the field of politics, ideas, and organizing. The true strength of our side has not yet been expressed in its size and breadth, and so they believe they are winning. We have to change this dynamic and begin to build a massive movement against racism, sexism, and bigotry in this country. I remain undaunted in my commitment to that project.”

Princeton University’s spokesperson confirmed yesterday that Taylor had taken a sabbatical and is well aware of the threats she received following her commencement address.

You said you had how many drinks?

In Utah, lawmakers approved legislation lowering the legal blood alcohol limit for drivers from 0.08 to 0.05, the lowest limit in the entire nation. This new limit will be in full effect starting the end of 2018.  Many drivers in Utah and across the country seem very concerned, as the limit imposed could lead to unnecessary arrests and severe punishments for safe drivers.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claims that an average 160-pound man would be in violation of the new blood average limit after consuming only two alcoholic beverages in one hour.

While writing for the Washington Times, Richard Berman — the president of Berman and Company, a public affairs firm representing the American Beverage Institute, has been noted stating that this new law is rather unnecessary and could cause a great deal of trouble to responsible drivers, if implemented by other states, as well.

“Why should you care about what happens in Utah with their known bias against alcohol consumption?” Berman wrote. “Because in 1983, Utah became the first state to lower its BAC arrest level to .08. After many years and contentious fights surrounding drinking and relative impairment, all 49 other states followed suit. Admittedly, this copycat phenomenon was helped by the threat of losing federal money for a law that was aimed at the wrong people. As is often the case in politics, the desire to say “me too”—not informed judgment—was the impetus behind the momentum. That’s why it’s important to pay attention, even if it’s to Utah’s weird alcohol laws.”

“For the uninitiated in the arcane world of blood alcohol levels, impairment is a term too loosely defined,” Berman wrote. “Research indicates a .05 BAC while driving is considered less dangerous than talking on a hands-free cellphone or speeding.”

Norm Thurston, the Utah Republican state Rep. sponsored the bill, and stated that the new requirement is justified, as it will deter people from drinking and driving, and improve overall public safety.

He just can't stop the feeling.

While speaking in Germany on Thursday, former president Barack Obama took aim at President Donald Trump for promising to build a wall on the Mexico- US border.

According to TheBlaze, Obama went as far as to invoke God during his rebuke:

“In the eyes of God, a child on the other side of the border is no less worthy of love and compassion than my own child. We can’t distinguish between them in terms of their worth and their inherent dignity and that they’re deserving of shelter and love and education and opportunity.”

Speaking at an event in Berlin, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, honoring the 500th anniversary of the Christian Reformation, Obama criticized the Trump administration’s plans to build a border wall.

Progressives and Democrats like Obama, have not shied away from showing their opposition to Trump’s proposed wall on the southern border of the US. With the belief that a wall would be “racist” and could potentially “isolate” the US from the rest of the world, progressives argue that the US should, instead of building walls, be building bridges. On the other hand, Republicans are of the belief that a wall is the only way the influx of potential terrorists, illegal immigrants, and criminals can be stopped.

“In this new world that we live in we can’t isolate ourselves,” Obama further said in Berlin. “We can’t hide behind a wall.”

However, many were quick to point out the hypocrisy in Obama’s comments. Living in Washington D.C.’s posh Kalorama neighborhood in his post-White House life, Obama had a metal and brick wall built around his house just for his family.

According to TMZ, the wall had begun to be constructed while Obama was still in charge of the White House in January.

Despite Obama’s constant proclamations that a wall on the US-Mexico border would “isolate” America, John Kelly, Secretary Homeland Security disagrees.

Speaking on “Fox and Friends” Friday, Kelly said: “We’re not hiding behind a wall. We’re constructing a physical barrier backed up by technology and of course the great men and women of the Customs and Border Protection to simply safeguard our southern border. We’re not hiding behind a wall, and you can’t defend anything by hiding behind something.”

This is gonna hurt.

New revelations made on as to how Mylan overcharged for their EpiPen, attracted new attacks from primary opponent of West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D.), since his daughter is CEO of the pharmaceutical company.

Heather Bresch, Manchin’s daughter came under the spotlight, when she was called to testify in front of the Congress regarding the increase in the price of EpiPens.

Just as the price of a two-pack EpiPen rose from $100 in 2007 to more than $600 by 2016. Bresch’s salary, also rose from $2.4 million in 2007 to nearly $19 million in 2015.

On Wednesday, a report was released that showed that Mylan had in fact overcharged the government $1.27 billion, after the company had settled with the Department of Justice only for $465 million, last year.

The situation for Mylan, became even worse, when reports indicated that a top executive was paid $98 million the very same year.

Paula Jean, Manchin’s Democratic primary opponent, took no time in turning the report into a political attack against the West Virginia senator, who had taken $127,000 in campaign contributions from Mylan and pressed for his colleagues to be “open-minded and fair” when investigating the scandal.

She shared the report on Twitter, “I will just leave this here,” Jean wrote linking to the CNN report. “You can ask my opponent about it.”

“We won’t be beholden to any special interests because our campaigns are funded by small donations from supporters, not big corporations,” Jean said in an email.

And said on her website, “Private insurance companies have been allowed by generations of corrupt politicians to become monopolies with the power to extort many hundreds of billions of dollars from the American people each year.”

It has also been brought to light that the drug company classified their EpiPen as a generic drug instead of a brand-name drug under the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program, which granted them $1 billion in excess payments from the rebate program.

This is perfectly natural.

Environmentalists are claiming that wind turbines pose a threat to whales; after a family of Minke whales were found dead in the United Kingdom.

According to reports by news sources, a young Minke while was found dead in the United Kingdom on the 20th of May. The same whale’s mother was found dead on a nearby beach, whereas, a third whale was washed ashore the next day. It is believed that that three dead whales were a part of the same family.

According to marine wildlife experts, the whales were likely to be disoriented by nearby wind turbines, which has the possibility to affect the sonar that whales use to navigate.

John Cresswell, chairman of the Felixstowe Volunteer Coast Patrol Rescue Service says, “My personal opinion is that could be a consequence of wind farms and the amount of sand in the water.”

“If you stop the boat off the coast you can feel the vibrations and hear the noise,” he added.

“There are studies that show that the sounds created by the operational noise of the turbines create vibrations under that may in fact disorient marine mammals like whales,” Bonnie Brady, director of the Long Island Commercial Fishing Association.

In Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow in March 2016, CFACT Senior Policy Advisor Paul Driessen and Mark Duchamp, the president of Save the Eagles International, stated that in addition to being dangerous to marine animals, the wind turbines are also causing problems for human vessels and aircraft.

“In addition, having forests of these enormous turbines off our coasts will greatly increase the risk of collisions for surface vessels, especially in storms or dense fog, as well as for submarines,” Driessen and Duchamp wrote. “It will also impair radar and sonar detection of hostile ships and low-flying aircraft, including potential terrorists, and make coastal waters more dangerous for Coast Guard helicopters and other rescue operations.”

“The offshore wind industry makes no sense from an economic, environmental, defense or shipping perspective,” Driessen and Duchamp wrote. “To exempt these enormous installations from endangered species and other laws that are applied with a heavy hand to all other industries—and even to the U.S. and Royal Navy—is irresponsible, and even criminal.”

What side is he playing today?

Several reports suggest James Comey, the former FBI Director, will publicly testify before a Senate committee that President Trump put him under immense pressure to discontinue the FBI investigation into Trump’s former national security adviser Mike Flynn’s ties to Moscow.

As per CNN, Comey may appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee “as early as next week.” However, it is to be noted that no official date has yet been scheduled. The committee is currently investigating claims that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential elections in its favor.

“The bottom line is he’s going to testify,” an unnamed source told CNN about Comey. “He’s happy to testify, and he’s happy to cooperate.”

On May 09, Comey was suddenly fired by Trump, sparking controversy that the president was trying to obstruct the FBI’s investigation into claims that Russia meddled with the election. American intelligence authorities have claimed that Moscow did seek to impact the 2016 elections in way or another.

The New York Times, earlier in May, reported that Trump asked Comey, while he was still at the bureau, to somehow end the FBI’s investigation into Flynn.

According to a memo that Comey is claimed to have written after a meeting with Trump, the president reportedly told him “I hope you can let this go.”

This Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Comey is willing to testify that Trump asked him “to back off the investigation” into Flynn.

Following his confession that he misled Vice President Mike Pence regarding conversations with the Russian ambassador before Inauguration Day, Flynn resigned from his post as national security adviser to President Trump.
